Softball Scholarship ~ 2013 Scholarship $500.00

Kristin loved the game of Softball.  Kristin played softball starting as a little girl in Kindergarten. Kristin continued to play softball with the town recreation league through her middle school years.  Kristin played on competitive travel teams starting at the age of ten. During her teenage years, Kristin spent weekends on softball fields all over the country.  Kristin was a Varsity Softball Player at Franklin High School her entire High School Career. She was captain during her Junior and Senior year. She won many all-star awards, Hockomock League Titles and All scholastic awards for her comittment and dedication to the sport. The Varsity Softball Team, coached by Lori Salvia, approached each game with the same Hope, Courage and Faith that she imposed in the way her players should approach their life as well.  We are very grateful for Coach Salvia's encouragement which gave Kristin the Hope, Courage and Faith she needed during her battle with Leukemia. The student applying for this scholarship should write a 1-2 page essay on what Hope, Faith and Courage means to them both on the field and off the field.

Kristin Graci "BFFL" Scholarship $500

The BFFL (Best Friends for Life) Scholarship is a unique scholarship.  Kristin’s fight against Leukemia  was a unique  battle and even the truest of friends had difficulty being there through the tough and lonely hours.  This scholarship hopefully will make you reflect on the good times and bad times and how your “BFFL” was there to support, lean on and enjoy all of those moments in friendship.

Instead of the recipient of the scholarship writing a one page essay, someone will have to nominate the winner by writing an essay stating why their friend is the best friend you could ever have. This person should be someone who has been there for you through thick and thin. This person should be someone who has been right next to you in your most challenging times and your finest moments. The idea of this scholarship is to have a different way of letting your friend know how much you truly cherish their friendship and support.

The most heartfelt essay will win, but all will be read, considered and appreciated. Our goal is to give you a special way to let your “BFFL” know how important they are. This scholarship is meant to be a SURPRISE, so please do not let them know you are doing this for them.

  "Friends & Family Pitching In"

"Friends & Family Pitching In" was originally created by friends and family members to help Kristin's family with medical costs incurred during her treatments.  When Kristin's life ended so aburptly in April of 2010, Kristin's family decided to have donations made in lieu of flowers for her memorial services.  These donations were sent to help a family Kristin met during treatment who lost their dad to Leukemia. Jason and his family will continue to always be in our hearts. People were kind and generous in donating to this fund.  Through their generosity, we were able to send Jason's wife and family an unexpected amount of money which was greatly appreciated.  Friends and Family Pitching In has extended the fund to also include scholarships in Kristin's memory. These scholarships will be available to students graduating from Franklin High School and continuing their education. Below are the scholarships available in Kristin's memory for 2012

An Angel's Wish for You

"Friends & Family Pitching In" is pleased to add a new concept in 2012.
Kristin's family was fortunate in being able to give Kristin most anything she needed or wanted during  treatments.  Her family was able to give her opportunities to experience friends flying in to visit during treatments and confinement from infection such as weekend trips to get away from it all, scrap booking, massages and alternative treatment options
.  It it our hope to help Leukemia patients experience something they might otherwise not.  We hope to give patients a "wish or need" while fighting the battle of their life.

2012 Members of "Friends & Family Pitching in"

Brad Graci, Rita Graci, Justin Graci, Jacquie Graci, Rita Dwyer, Sherynne Faramelli, Michele Vogt, Anne DiBattista,, Maureen Reeve & Steve Hedges.

The Kristin Graci 2013
"Nursing Scholarship"
                        $1,000.00

Kristin's dream was to become a nurse and continue her education to become a nurse practioner. Kristin had a strong desire and compassion to help others in the same manner she was cared for by her outstanding nurses during her battle with Leukemia. Kristin received her acceptance into the Nursing Program just two weeks before she lost her battle against Leukemia. This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has been accepted to a 4-year nursing program. This student should write a 1-2 page essay on "What you think are the most important qualities a nurse should possess, and what may have influenced your decision to become a nurse."
